Nilagang Mais (Corn on the Cob)

Fresh corn cooked by immersing in boiling water and cooked till it is tender. Can be serve as a healthy snack or side dish.
Serves: 3
  • 6 ears fresh corn, husks and silk removed
  • water(4 quarts)
  • ½ cup sugar (optional)
  1. Fill in a large pot with ¾ water(4 quarts), bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. When the water comes to a boil; Add the corn, then cover the pot. Cook till it's tender or when the water boils again(approximately 10 minutes).
  3. Remove from pot. Serve while it is still warm.
I used almost 4 quarts of water for my large pot, enough to hold 6 corns.
If you want it sweeter, add the sugar while its boiling just before you add the corn.
¼ cup sugar---gives you a subtle sweetness.
½ cup sugar---you have a sweeter Corn on the Cob!
You can add butter to make it creamier!
Healthier option---just add a bit of salt!
