This is a two theme/design in one cake. My task for this particular cake was to put two different themes in one cake. It is a Superheroes Cake more on The Avengers Cake.
The boy celebrant was turning four while his father was turning forty. Initially I thought that I will be only making the boy’s cake which is more about the Avengers, and I asked my friend for some input on what characters her son wants or his favorite Avengers characters. So she said; Spiderman, Hulk, Captain America. Then, my friend told me not to forget the other celebrant because they were celebrating their birthdays together in that same day. I said okay…accepted the challenge and I was how will I do that! So, I started asking her what her husband’s interest so I can incorporate something that he liked to the cake. Well, it all worked well since he liked Thor and comics. So I came up with making a superheroes cake. I immediately know what to do. I saw it in Pinterest before, two designs in one cake. The other half will be the boy’s cake and the other half being the dad’s cake. So, I told my friend what I would be doing and she liked the idea right away.
This cake of course is made again using my double chocolate chip cake with caramel filling, ganached to give it that sharp edge and finally covered with fondant. Hulk’s fist is made from RKTs covered in green fondant. Spiderman’s head is hand cut and the details were drawn using edible pens. Then for Captain America’s shield was made using a circle and star cutters. You would see that the other side is for the other celebrant; his interests include comics and Thor. And so I printed a Thor comic strip from my edible printer using edible paper of course! I then add the final touch which is to put the celebrant’s name using Funky Letter cutters for Alex and Tappit Letter cutters for Paul. This cake endured the four hours travel from our place to NJ. I also brought a small turntable so both sides of the cake will be seen by turning it around slowly. We did not end up using it because the cake kept turning on its own so we skipped that part. Hope you learned something from this post, and if you have questions just comment on the section below and I will get back to you! Sending you sweet sugar hugs!
